A tag can also include an audio track from SoundCloud or a reference article from Qwiki. This means that you can watch a video within a video or view a picture or listen to a different audio track within the original video. When you click a tag in the original video the video pauses and the tagged item is displayed. wireWax allows you to add tags to any YouTube video that is publicly viewable and has not had embedding disabled. At this site a user can either create a Digital Poster, Movie or a Pathway Challenge. A Pathway Challenge is a great way to lean history and see how historical items are "linked" together.
Magic Studio is a terrific multimedia site for educators. It is a place where users can create, view, upload their data which could include: videos, audio, time lines, quizzes, etc.Another nice feature of MS is that everything is done in a drag/drop user interface which makes it very easy for a person to use. It feels a little bit like Voice Thread in that regard. Add to that a very nice tutorial and you have the recipe for a really nice tool to use in the classroom. The only feature I see missing is an educational instance which would allow teachers to create student accounts and have everything being moderated before it gets posted online.
Huzzaz is a site for organizing and sharing collections of educational videos. It's a bit like EduClipper or Pinterest, but it has some unique features. The basic purpose of Huzzaz is to help you create and organize collections of videos. You can make as many thematic collections as you like. To add a video from YouTube or Vimeo to your collections you can search within Huzzaz, use the Huzzaz browser bookmarklet, or copy and paste video URLs into your collections. Once you have some videos in a collection you can organize them by simply dragging and dropping them into a sequence. Your collections can be shared with others. Likewise, you can share individual videos. When you share an individual video from a Huzzaz collection you can host real-time discussions about it.
Chill is a free service for creating and sharing collections of your favorite videos from YouTube, Vimeo, VEVO, and Hulu. Using Chill you can add videos with your comments to categories that you create. Your videos appear like sticky notes on a wall. Chill allows you to follow other Chill users to discover and share new videos.
Wistia is a video hosting company that offers a free plan. Wistia is not like YouTube and similar video hosting services. It's purpose is to give you complete control over how your videos are found and seen by others. The way to share your videos is to embed them into your own website or blog. You can control who does or doesn't see your video even when it is embedded by requiring an email address for viewing. Here's Wistia's video introducing their free plan. It's the best product introduction video I've seen in a long time.
